Puppy Pre-School – Critical Period Education

SOCIALISATION
Socialisation and bite inhibition are two of the most valuable things your puppy can learn, to successfully integrate them into your family, and the world in general.

BITE INHIBITION
If a puppy has not established bite inhibition by 18 weeks of age, not been adequately socialized to friendly dogs of various breeds and sizes, the chances of behaviour problems developing later on are greatly increased.

WINDOW OF OPPORTUNITY
Meeting other friendly dogs and people during the critical socialization period of 3 – 13 weeks of age is one of the most important things you can do for your puppy.

SAFE & FRIENDLY
At Puppy Pre-School these two items are at the top of our agenda. In a safe, hygienic and non-threatening environment, your puppy will learn polite social interaction. Shy puppies will gain confidence while bullies will learn appropriate manners and self control.

CONFIDENCE
Exposing your puppy to a wide variety of sounds, sights, and experiences will ensure they develop as confident, well mannered canine friends that are welcomed by society.

ENVIRONMENTAL ENRICHMENT
Environmental enrichment is paramount to your puppies learning and mental stimulation. By learning how to keep your puppy entertained by simply ensuring their environment is interesting, can save a lot of heartache due to destructive behaviour.

CHECKLIST
A comprehensive socialization checklist is supplied to every enrolment, so that you can successfully monitor & further your puppies progress, at home between classes.

REWARDS
An introduction to “Positive Reinforcement” training. How and why these “Reward Based” methods work. Covering the theory and putting the practice to the test.

PUPPY FuNdamentals – Critical Period Education

MANNERS This 10 week clinic is extremely popular. Specially designed for the majority of pet dog owners, who simply want a polite, well behaved 4 legged friend. FUN Puppy Fundamentals is more than just teaching your dog a set of exercises, it is the foundation for a healthy & enjoyable relationship between you and your dog. ADVENTURE 10 weeks of action packed adventure and education for you and your canine friend. Socialisation Bar-b-ques are held regularly ensuring your pet continues to develop their socialisation skills. WATCH How to achieve eye contact for attention. HARMONY Loose lead walking. No tugging, at either end of the leash. SETTLE Achieve “Sit” and “Down” on cue – the ultimate settle & manners positions. KEEP OFF 4 on the Floor – Preventing jumping on people, furniture, other dogs. NO NIPPING How to teach bite inhibition and prevent inappropriate use of teeth. COME WHEN CALLED Learning how to achieve a safe and reliable recall. BED/MAT More house manners – Lie quietly now and let me relax too. OK/FREE Release cue – the work is done, let the games begin! It has been clearly demonstrated that owners who make the commitment to educate their puppies early, are far less likely to experience problem behaviours such as barking, digging, escaping, or destructiveness, which are largely due to boredom and lack of mental stimulation. TRICK ‘N’ TREAT

Fun and laughter for dogs and their owners !!

A FuNtastic clinic for those dogs that are looking for some extra curricular activities, love an audience, or simply want to showcase their talents.

Learn “Shake”, “Roll-Over”, “Mexican Waves”, “Take a Bow”, “Hi-5”, “Dance & Weave”, “Play Dead”, “Say your Prayers” and many more.

Dogs must have completed “Puppy FuNdamentals”, or be assessed for basic manners, be calm around other dogs, and be fully vaccinated.

CLICK FOR GAMES

An introduction to the use of a “clicker” and how this scientific methodology brings fun and enjoyment to games and training.

Learn how to play “Lassie Says”, “My Dog Can Do That”, “Roll the Dice”, “Which Witches Hats”, “Fastest Dog in the West” and many more.

Dogs must have completed “Puppy FuNdamentals”, or be assessed for basic manners, be calm around other dogs, and be fully vaccinated.

ADVANCED I

Fine tune those skills learned in “Puppy FuNdamentals” in this clinic designed for the owner who wishes to harness their dog’s intelligence and energy, and advance to the next level.

Emphasis will be placed on Off Leash Management, Distance Control, Out of Sight Stays, Introduction to Retrieving, Introduction to Jumping and most importantly, Manners and Socialisation throughout Adolescence.

Dogs must have completed “Puppy FuNdamentals” within the last 3 months, and be fully vaccinated.

MINI AGIITY FUN

If you have seen or heard about the fun of Agility (obstacle courses), want to give it a try, but don’t want to partake in this competitive sport, Mini Agility Fun is ideal for you and your dog.

You will be taught how to manage obstacles in a safe and thoughtful manner, with an emphasis on fun and confidence building for your dog.

Dogs need to be in good physical health, have completed Absolutely Fabulous’ “Advanced I” clinic, or be assessed as being reliable to sit, drop, stay and recall off leash, and be friendly to all other dogs. Full vaccination is required.
